{"id":14318,"date":"2016-11-21T13:58:46","date_gmt":"2016-11-21T12:58:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/test.theeatculture.com\/en\/?p=14318"},"modified":"2016-11-21T13:58:28","modified_gmt":"2016-11-21T12:58:28","slug":"the-book-on-the-nightstand-the-art-of-being-frail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.theeatculture.com\/en\/the-book-on-the-nightstand-the-art-of-being-frail\/","title":{"rendered":"The book on the nightstand: The Art of Being Frail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finding words &#8220;art&#8221; and &#8220;frail&#8221; in a sentence <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with positive attitude<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is as much strange <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> talking of a durable happiness, Alessandro D&#8217;Avenia has tried in his new book <strong>The Art of Being Frail<\/strong>.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It so happens that a poet, that in memory of nearly all high school students is remembered as pessimistic and unfortunate (a loser in short), for the first time is chosen as a partner from which to draw inspiration to lead <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">an<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> happy life: <strong>Giacomo Leopardi.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">D&#8217;Avenia is strucked and he strucks everybody with reflections that show us, in this timeless exchange of letters, a side of the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recanati<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> poet that until now no one has ever told. It\u2019s a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">piece of work hardly classifiable<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> but out of any classification (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">what<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> does it matter if it is a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mistery novel<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or a Bildungsroman when it speaks of the life of any of us!), it looks for beauty even when <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">it meets deception<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, weakness, pain, loss. <strong>It\u2019s passion to stir Leopardi, that suffering<\/strong> &#8211; as we remember the Latin etymology &#8211; <strong>that we no longer <\/strong><\/span><strong>feel to achieve<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong> what we like, what makes us happy.<\/strong> If it\u2019s true that we don\u2019t passionate about it, we don\u2019t dream, and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in front of the<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> obstacles we stop or prefer to work around them, D&#8217;Avenia \/ Leopardi talks about the art of repair: when we choose to throw what we don\u2019t like anymore or which <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has broken<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and we buy something new, because to fix it would mean leaving visible the cracks, we don\u2019t see that &#8220;behind that crack hides the light.&#8221; <strong>If we\u2019re weak, perhaps we only need to <\/strong><\/span><strong>be<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong> &#8220;handle carefully&#8221;,<\/strong> to give us that attention can make us feel loved, precious, to trust each other and to let someone think to take care of us.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The book by Alessandro D&#8217;Avenia deserves to be read no matter what I might write <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">about it<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for this<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; if I <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">didn\u2019t convince you<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 I\u2019ll conclude with the author&#8217;s words: <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">these pages contain no simple solutions, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">because life is never<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">simple<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and was not to Leopardi in particular, but they suggest <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">how we could be just a bit simpler.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From today appearing frail it might be easier<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
