Many <\/span>people<\/span> are under the spell of the myth<\/strong>, <\/span>its<\/span> charm enclosed in the time of the story that magically embraces past, present and future because <\/span>actually<\/span> there\u2019s no time outside of it.<\/span>
\n<\/span>The myth is eternally present. Such is his <\/span>narrative power<\/span> that the oral tradition leads it to <\/span>these<\/span> days<\/span>; perhaps because the stories of Apollo and Daphne, Orpheus and Eurydice are even our stories. They continue to talk about us, to us, and we feel that we can still reflect into them, we can still <\/span>looking<\/span> for answers.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>This is the spirit <\/span>that<\/span> Paola Mastrocola<\/strong>, in her new book The Love Before Us<\/strong>, <\/span>give us<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>a lot of<\/span> fabulous stories in which she gives to old stories new dialogues, using the language of men and women of our <\/span>Age<\/span>. <\/span>Spoken like<\/span> a modern Eurydice: <\/span><\/p>\n

if I followed you, you will bring me back to normal life, days that end up and leave, and finally they leave us aged, again on the verge of leaving. Love is the distance, it feeds on impassable distances. I <\/span>don\u2019t <\/span>need to live with you. In this darkness where I <\/span>can\u2019t<\/span> see you, and I <\/span>haven\u2019t<\/span> you, it\u2019s perfect to love <\/span>you<\/span>. <\/span>Spare you<\/span> is love.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It’s a surprise to read <\/span>about<\/span> humanized<\/span> heroes and heroines, plagued by earthly doubts and fears<\/span>, it\u2019s like they wanted to tell us <\/span>that love is always only love, that its rules are the same, <\/span>whether<\/span> you have a fragile and finite life or you are immortal.<\/span><\/p>\n
